Anna at 20 months

Well, it's been two months between postings, and I'm feeling a little guilty about that.  But, our lives have sure been hectic lately. We have big news - we are moving and starting on new adventures!  Brian has been accepted to a doctoral program at Stanford University. We will be renting our house and moving to an apartment in the family housing there. I have found a new position at a Catholic high school near campus where I will both teach math and coordinate service learning efforts. We are really excited about the changes!

Anna seems oblivious to it all and is just enjoying life as usual. She is growing like a weed and talking up a storm. She has grown impatient with "baby" books and prefers longer stories with more involved plots (which is oh-so-refreshing for us as narrators.) She frequently communicates in three to four word sentences and sings full songs constantly. Currently her favorite is "Edelweiss" from The Sound of Music. The most common phrase we hear is "Anna do it self;" she has quite the independent streak! From brushing her teeth to dressing/undressing herself, she always makes an effort to attempt it in her own way before she will allow you to help. She is working on her dexterity with writing instruments and now enjoys coloring and drawing on her chalkboard. Anna has an increased interest in dolls and playing pretend. At night after she is put in her crib, you can hear her telling her dolly to lie down and watch her use a blanket to tuck the dolly in.

We've enjoyed a few visits these past few months. Pop-Pop came out in March to watch Anna for a few days while her daycare was closed. They had a wonderful time together. This week Grandpa and Grandma Barb came out to watch Anna for a few days while Mommy and Daddy enjoyed a getaway in Sonoma. They will be here with us to celebrate Easter as well. Anna got to dye her first Easter eggs last night, including the application of some glitter which went surprisingly well.

Take a look at our recent adventures by clicking on the TWO albums below - one for 19 months and the second for 20 months.
